'Station Master' Museum
The 'Station Master' Museum is a replica of the inside of an old house from the early 1900s, with a living room, kitchen, wash room all decorated with vintage furnishings, items and items from eras gone by to spark old memories. Visitors can explore the rooms and even dress up in timely costumes of the era to really get involved in the experience. This is a great activity for visitors with Dementia to spark fond, homely memories of their younger years, or history enthusiasts to see what life would have been like those years ago. The living room and wash room are level access however entry to the kitchen area has 1 step. 'Reminiscence Talks' are also often hosted which are great opportunities for interested visitors to join and discuss the past.
Next Stop...Nostalgia!
The Leeming Bar Railway Station has been thoughtfully decorated with old signs, railway items and features which bring the classic heritage of the railway industry to life. You can feel like you're travelling back in time by going to purchase a ticket from the old booths, listening to the sounds of the trains rolling and clicking on the tracks, or smelling the engines powering the great locomotives.
Toilet Facilities
There are toilet facilities available on the platform, as well as an accessible toilet and the station's own Changing Places Toilet. There is a baby changing table in the accessible toilet.
Wheelchair Access
The site is majorly level access, with easy access into key areas such as ticket booths, the café, the 'Station Master' Museum (excluding kitchen) and there are ramps available for access onto the trains. The carriages have fixed furniture and quite narrow stalls meaning visitors who are unable to transfer out of their wheelchairs to reach this area will travel in the 'pacer' carriages. These carriages are larger spaces for wheelchair users to travel in which attach to the back of the train, which are currently undergoing some maintenance to make them more comfortable for guests. Wheelchairs are also available to borrow onsite.
Dog Policy
The Wensleydale Railway loves dogs but they are only allowed on the Tea Train only.
Wi-Fi & Phone Signal
It is important to note that there is no Wi-Fi available onsite and due to the rural location, the phone signal can be low at times and often unreliable.
Train Journeys
Along the 22 miles track through the Wensleydale region, visitors can enjoy scenes of the beautiful rural countryside, alongside the good company of family and friends, and Afternoon Tea if they select this service. Gluten Free food is available as well as other dietary needs.
